The Sherry OUG : Brunch, Coffee, Porki-licious Dish

The Sherry OUG at Happy Garden, a new kid on the block that opened to the public just end of September. Come here for Instagram-worthy brunch and coffee, stay for their specially crafted porki-licious dishes that fit right on anytime of the day.

We first thought that The Sherry is renovated from a landed house, judging from its exterior when we browse through some of their pictures on social media. But it is actually a corner shop lot within the neighbourhood, located same row with Sunday Coffee & Cakes and Tanuki by Crustz. Look for a white building with “no-door-cement-entrance” and their iconic outdoor tent, it isn’t difficult to find – but for parking, yes, it is. Lol.

Love their welcoming, warmth and cozy interior, thoughtfully adorned with colour-matching plants, dried flowers, furniture and beautiful wall mural. It isn’t a huge cafe with plenty of seating, and gets full house pretty fast. Probably 30 minutes after they start their business at 12noon. So, be early.

hamhamsapbelly

For food, The Sherry put together a selection of starters, brunch, signature main courses, pasta, rice bowl, and dessert to end the meal sweet. Our favourite goes to their HamHamSapBelly RM30, also a must-try here. Fork-tender, juicy pork belly with a good proportion of fat and meat, topped over a hearty bowl of rice along with poached egg, edamame, crispy lard and tongarashi.

Pink Fisherman RM30 recommended by the staff was good too. Al-dente spaghetti cooked with Tiger prawn, mussel and calamari in tossed in thick, creamy sauce concocted from miso, cream and tomato.

If your brunch must come with coffee and big breakfast sort of, then enjoy Sherry Brunchie RM30 – homamde sausage, avocado, bacon, creamy mushroom, scrambled egg/sunny side up, greens; Bacon Avo RM24 – Avocado, Bacon, sourdough, scrambled egg, tomato, green, aged balsamic; Smoked Salmon Roll RM30- Smoked salmon, capers, onion, tobiko, milk toast, greens, green chilli aioli; Bacon Eggy Toast RM26 – Poached Egg, Toast, Bacon, Hollandaise and greens or Fruity Sourdough RM26 – Sourdough, seasonal fruits, pistachio, feta cheese. honey, sour cream.

Sherry Iberico Steak, another favourite of ours. Iberico pork from Spain, slow-cooked in low temperature for 6 hours, and further seared to lock in juiciness.

Accompany with a glass of wine. Enhance the flavours Sherry Iberico Steak.

coffee

Beverage menu covers from standard coffee choice – espresso, piccolo latte, cappucino, americano to chocolate, matcha latte, houjicha latte, pink matcha, coca matcha, rose houjicha, fresh cold pressed juice and hot tea from Teapigs.

Overall, a nice place for chill & relax moments. What makes The Sherry more worthwhile is, they will be having mini weekend bazaar from time to time, highlighting artisan products in support to local homebakers, brewers, craft designer, etc. Do stay up close with The Sherry Facebook and Instagram for upcoming event.
