Ichikakuya Ramen at Shoplex Mont Kiara, famous Yokohama Iekei Ramen from Japan is now opened! it is located right beside VCR Stacks! Tips: Come around 11.30AM to skip the queue.

Ramen Kanbe 163 Retail Park, Don Don Donki Bukit Bintang and % Arabica Pavilion KL – these three establishments are probably the most talked about topic among our friends in recent weeks. So we too, decided to skip our weekend cafe brunch last week and check out one of them – Ramen Kanbe for slurps of Japanese ramen. But, luck wasn’t on our sides. Planned to be there at 10.30AM but we were late from running errands. Ended up reaching there around 11.30AM. As expected, there was already a long queue in front of Ramen Kanbe, which made us switch to plan B, trying out Ichikakuya Yokohama Iekei Ramen Shoplex Mont Kiara (*Next to VCR Stacks), just opposite the road.

So happy that Ichikakuya 壱角家  is still empty that time! Hailed from Japan, Yokohama Iekei Ramen Ichikakuya has over 80 stores alone in Tokyo area, and expanding all over the world. The restaurant takes pride for their house-made Yokohama Iekei noodles – medium thick, made with exclusive wheat. They rest the noodles for a while in the method of aging, so that the noodles will go better with the soup.

Had Yokohama MAX Ramen RM27.00 – with quail egg! The uniqueness of IEKEI Ramen lies on its flavourful, rich Tonkotsu soy sauce soup with thick, chewy noodles. You can enhance the enjoyment of this dish by requesting how firm you would like for your noodles, how much chicken oil and how thick you would like for your soup.

To order;
Step 1: Choose your soup base of soy sauce or salt base
Step 2: Thick or thin noodle.
Step 3: Hard, normal, soft noodles.
Step 4. Taste of strong, normal or light.
Step 5: Extra, normal or less chicken oil

Yokohama Iekei Ramen Ichikakuya menu is quite extensive. Abura-Soba, a type of soup-less oil noodles with special sauce originated from Tokyo Japan is available too. If you can’t skip rice, Iekei has got you covered with Curry Katsu Chicken Rice, Curry Katsu Mushroom Rice, Teriyaki Chicken, Teriyaki Salmon Rice, Mapo Tofu Rice Bowl, Rice Bowl topped with Broiled Pork Belly/ Karaage/ Taru Taru & Karaage. Ordered Sutameshi Rice Bowl  RM18– Japanese rice topped with deeply-flavoured, tender pieces of pork belly.

Pair your ramen with appetizer/side dish like gyoza, chicken karaage, Saba Fish, Salmon Teriyaki, Taru Taru Karaage, Edamame, Fish Skin, Chicken Teriyaki. They even have French Fries on the menu.

Verdict: We love Ichikakuya Yokohama Iekei Ramen! Soup is really nice, better if they could give more. Summergirl likes the gyoza but Summerkid doesn’t, personal taste maybe. Queue started to build up when we were having our noodles, and turned out quite long when we were about to leave at around 12.30noon. Suggest to come around 11.30AM.
