We have been constantly looking for good bomboloni in KL – a type of Italian filled- doughnut, usually eaten as snack, or as dessert. Think about a classic doughnut without the ring, soft, fluffy and dough-y, deliciously wrapped with rich, creamy filling at the centre. This little treat is just oh-so-good, best to go with a cup of tea or coffee. We can have it anytime on the day.
And can’t deny, so many cafes in Klang Valley have started to launch bombolonis in town recently, so fast that we find it too much, to catch up. Try to select based on friends’ recommendation, reviews on internet as well as social media, and Dough by Meg caught our attention. Glad that they have finally opened a physical store in Jalan Ceylon, Bukit Ceylon. Close enough for us to pay them a visit, on a weekend morning. Dough by Meg starts serving from as early as 8.30AM, great for those who like to enjoy so quiet, chilling time, enjoying a cuppa with freshly made bombolonis.
Dough by Meg makes their bombolonis from scratch using the real, finest ingredients in small batches. Each is prepared with passion, ‘from zero to hero’. It takes time for roll and shaped, drop into hot oil and emerge beautifully in round, golden brown. Then stuffed with bomb diggity fillings of specialty ingredients such as Nutella, Lemon Cheese, Earl Grey etc. – for an explosion of imaginative flavours and textures, once biting through. Price from RM7 to RM12 per doughnut.
Dough by Meg offers various bomboloni flavours, from Mocha to Classic Pistachio (best seller), Varlhona Chocolate and Salted Caramel, London Fog Earl Grey (best seller), Honey Dew, Lemon Cheese, Strawberry Milk Cream, Thai Milk Tea, Nutella, Biscoff, Sesame Garlic Cream Cheese, Sugar Butter, Cinnmon Sugar. For beverage, you can opt for Caramel Macchiato, Mocha, Chocolate, Matcha Latte, Cappuccino, Americano.
Other than bomboloni, Dough by Meg Cafe also offers savoury hot food if you are looking for substantial breakfast or brunch to fuel up for the day. Big Breakfast by Meg, Avocado Shrimp Croissant Sandwich, Sourdough Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomtao Soup, Croque Madame, Aglio Olio Pasta, Hummus with Sourdough all look promising. Didn’t try any, as we have other cafe hopping plan follows.
Come by in the morning, as there’ll be less crowd. Parking is a hassle, unless you choose to park in any of the buildings/condominiums around. Delivery, pick-up and dine-in are all available so just in case you prefer to order from them and indulge at home, you can order through the delivery platform they partnered with.
