Lax Lax One Utama, by Kampung Dining – the home for best Pork Lard Nasi Lemak with Siew Yuk in PJ has opened the first pet-friendly restaurant in 1Utama. A taste on their food and we were sold. As good as in Kampung Dining, or even better – can’t find a reason for not recommending this place.

While Kampung Dining in Seksyen 17 is a homey, neighbourhood restaurant; Lax Lax One Utama on the other hand, appears to be more stylish, carrying lively, inviting atmosphere for modern Malaysian comfort food dining experience – like walking into an unpretentious eatery that wow your palate during your summer vacation. To chill and relax.

As Lax Lax One Utama is titled as a restaurant & bar, you get to enjoy delish pork delicacies along with some wine, cocktail, soju, somaek, draught beer. Lax Lax serves a small list of finely selected organic wine, from Artisal growers. Pork with booze – You get best of both worlds at the same time, so why not. What makes Lax Lax by Kampung Dining more worthwhile is their pet-friendly concept, allowing you bring your beloved fur kids with you for lunch and dinner. We even saw a group of pet lovers having a birthday party during our visit. Amazing.

Coming to food, we assure that you won’t be disappointed. Lax Lax menu offers from the famous Pork Tenderloin Skewer, Pork Lard Nasi Lemak, Crackling Skin Roasted Siu Yuk to must-have Apple Rendang Carbanara with Chicken Katsu Udon, Nyonya Seafood Laksa, Star Fruit Assam Barramundi, and Dry-Aged Iberico Pork Collar, Hokkien Udon, just to name a few. Holding on to the establishment’s vision, Lax Lax One Utama set to create and serve food that sparks joy (*clearly they did), preparing delicious delicacies that put together freshest local produces with contemporary cooking technique, strictly 0 MSG, all from a ” made from scratch” kitchen – something that the team takes pride in.

The evergreen Pork Lard Nasi Lemak Rice Bowl (PLNL) is something you shouldn’t miss. Hearty portion, serving crispy pork lard on fragrant coconut rice, ikan bilis, roasted peanut, onsen egg, crackers, pickled vegetables, sambal tumis, yuzu shrimp sambal with your choice of Crispy Crackling Skin Siuyuk, Apple Chicken Rendang, Babi Cili Garam, Serai Honey Ayam Goreng, Sambal baby Squid, Starfruits Asam Fish. Hard decision, and we pick: Pork Lard Nasi Lemak Rice Bowl with Siu Yuk RM32

Level up our love for Lax Lax’s awesome siu yuk with an order of this pork platter – Exclusively for Pork Lovers RM69.90. A tempting line up of Pork Skewers (aka pork satay, 5 sticks) + Crackling Pork Skin Roasted Siu Yuk + Sambal Pork.

Look at the meat in beautiful layers – juicy, succulent, accompanied by extra crunchy skin, and a light drizzle of Yakiniku Glaze that further elevated the overall flavours of this best seller. Oh-so-delicious. Needless to say, pork satay with in-house pineapple peanut sauce is equally delish.

Apple Rendang Carbonara Udon served with Mushroom & Crispy Deep Fried Chicken ChopRM26.90
Love how Lax Lax reinterpret local flavours in a creative way, such as this noodle with Japanese fusion take – Bouncy, chewy udon coated with flavourful apple rendang carbonara sauce, served with mushroom & crispy deep fried to golden brown chicken chop. Summergirl’s favourite.

It has been a while since we last had Iberico Pork, so Summerkid said we shall get an order of Lax Lax 28-days Dry Aged Iberico Pork Collar (RM72). No regret. Soo tender – just like how the dish is described on menu – there is no need for wagyu when there’s Iberico. Sided with pickled garlic, pickled carrot, pickled ginger, mirin pickled kedondong that clock in just right for a refreshing touch in between meat bites. Not to forget, yuzu dried shrimp sambal for that extra spicy touch.

Do not leave without a bowl of cendol. And Lax Lax is being extra thoughtful on the serving, where you can have Super Mini Sized Cendol, Regular Sized Cendol, Jumbo Sized Cendol. But to us, a mini’s one will never be enough. They are using 100% pure gula Melaka from Merlimau, and cendol made in house from fresh pandan juice.

Overall, we had a satisfying lunch at Lax Lax by Kampung Dining. Worth all the back and forth walking. As we hardly go One Utama, we literally get lost inside, walking from Old Wing to New Wing and then back Old Wing that day, yet still failed to find the restaurant. Called the restaurant and they are kind enough to show us the direction. Appreciate.

How to go Lax Lax?
Lax Lax is actually located at the new extended building of the mall. They call this Wing E if we are not mistaken, beside Valet Parking. If you aren’t familiar with One Utama like us, you can try to look for the exit in between McDonald’s and KFC at Lower Ground floor. Walk out, go straight until you see fwf hotpot restaurant 凤凰府火锅. Lax Lax is next to it. If you came by MRT, turn right after Bask Bear Coffee, go down the escalator and Lax Lax is on your right. There are few exit/ entrance to reach the restaurant, but these are the 2 we found. Hope this helps.
