Sekalf, Jalan Tun H S Lee (*Near Petaling Street)

June 20, 2023 by summerkid_summergirl

sekalf-cafe-1

Sekalf – latest cafe in Petaling Street area. Opened in March, opposite to Niko Neko Matcha 2.0- Chinatown, strategically located just one street away from MRT Pasar Seni station.

Browsing through Instagram profile of Sekalf, we learnt that the cafe is actually a new project by the team behind Flakes – a popular brunch spot in The Hub, SS2 PJ. The interesting part – read Sekalf backwards, it actually spells Flakes. Impressive. Very creative way for naming.

sekalf-cafe-3

From the reputation that Flakes has built over the years, we believe that pastries, savories and beverage here would be good, especially their evergreen croissant in different flavours. You can get Salted Egg Croissant, Pistachio Croissant, Morello Chocolate Croissant, Matcha Croissant, Oreo Croissant, Almond Croissant and Plain Croissant at Sekalf too.

Other than that, you can enjoy Asian favourites, breakfast and brunch platter, pasta, rice dons, mains, salad, as well as light bites. Extensive Aussie brunch with a twist of Asian flavors menu. Among the choices you can have include Rendang Rigatoni, Pasembur Salad with Prawn Cakes, Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berempah, Sinful Breakfast, Truffle Butter Steak, Open Faced Sandwich with Egg Mayo & Tiger Prawns, Crabmeat Scrambled Eggs, Egg Benedict with Cured Salmon, Avocado Scrambled Eggs, Honey Soy Garlic Tofu Don, Nagu Fan, Salted Egg Popcorn Chicken Don.

Check out also Pan Seared Salmon Fillet with Lemon Butter, Beef Stew with Mash, Classic Fish n Chips, Chicken Roulade, Zatar Grilled Whole Chicken Leg. Pastas look promising too, putting together Salted Egg with Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti, Slow Cooked Beef Chunk Spaghetti, Pesto Pasta, Hamaguri Clam Pasta, Carbonara with Smoked Duck Pasta, Veggie Rigatoni. Price wise, reasonable. Most items are below RM30.

Gula Melaka Choux Craqeulin RM3.90 / latte RM12.90/ Matcha RM12.90

Highly recommend the Gula Melaka Choux Craqeulin RM3.90 – mini, crispy puff generously filled with Gula Melaka cream filling. For drinks, other than usual black and white, they also features mocktails & smoothies in playful flavours, such as Golden Tangerine – Kiwi berry tea with orange and red grape puree; Citrusmon Black – soda water with espresso, orange puree, cinnamon syrup; Revolution Float – espresso with red grape mousse and rose syrup, just to name a few.
