Kampai KLCC : 1 Japanese Restaurant, 3 Kinds of Omakase Experience

Kampai KLCC – the first Japanese Omakase Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur that offers 3 different Omakase experiences under one roof – Teppanyaki Omakase, Yakiniku Omakase, Sushi Omakase, is now opened.

If you’ve ever been to Bamboo Hills, you have probably notice before a Japanese restaurant adorned with a backdrop of stunning Japanese lanterns, and a striking torii-style entrance, named Kampai Yakiniku. It is renowned for its Japanese yakiniku, highlighting A5 wagyu freshly imported from Nishiawa Beef Japan. We’ve visited once for dinner. Truly enjoy their opened-concept dining, and miss their KAMPAI Favourite Wagyu Mabushi Rice!

Fast forward to February 2024, the brand has set another milestone in the town’s culinary scene by opening its doors right in the bustling Kuala Lumpur- at Suria KLCC! Initially we thought that this new restaurant will be Yakiniku-focused too, be we are pleasantly surprised to discover that they actually offer much more. In fact, stands out as a unique culinary gem, possibly the pioneer of its kind in town.

Differ from Kampai Yakiniku Bamboo Hills, Kampai KLCC adds to Kuala Lumpur’s growing list of up-scale dining options, dedicated to delivering premium Omakase dining experience that goes beyond expectations.  Kampai KLCC’s commitment to “Beyond Dining” permeates every aspect of their establishment, from the exquisite delicacies to the sophisticated ambiance and impeccable service – the art of Japanese hospitality, known as Omotenashi.

The noteworthy part, Kampai KLCC is a Japanese Omakase Restaurant that offers 3 kinds of Omakase, where you can choose to have Teppanyaki Omakase, Sushi Omakase or Yakiniku Omakase.  The main spotlight is definitely the First-ever Teppanyaki Omakase in Malaysia, paired with Japanese Miyazaki A5 Wagyu.

It took us some time to locate the establishment but we like the extra effort – that exudes speakeasy vibes. One of the friendly staffs led through a “secret passage” and after the tall, solid wooden door, we were welcomed by a beautiful, modern vintage spiral staircases that made us instantly regret – should have dressed better and took OOTD here.

Thoughtfully designed, zen space that boasts elegant finishing touches, with careful use of matching tones and texture to create that extra LUX, yet laid-back ambience. Love how they partition up each section with exceptional setting for exquisite dining experience. The Yakiniku Omakase section is our favorite corner, where you get to enjoy your yakiniku while overlooking the KLCC’s Lake Symphony. For private rooms, the option to close the curtains for an intimate gathering or open them up for larger groups added to the versatility of the space.

-Teppanyaki Omakase Dining Area-

We are glad to be able to try out all 3 omakase that day, sampling few of the highlights from each omakase section. Started off with Teppanyaki Omakase Course. Chef greeted us once we were seated at the counter, introduced us to some of the fresh produce that we we will be having for our dinner.

There are 3 menu for Teppanyaki Dinner – Motosuko RM298++, Saiko RM498++, and Yamanakako RM698++.

And we go for Motosuko RM298++

-Sushi Omakase Dining Area –

Continue to unfold our Omakase journey at Kampai KLCC at their Sushi & Sashimi section.

Chef Ryusei Maruyama in action.

Kampai Signature Nigiri Sushi
From right: Snapper Nigiri Sushi, Mackerel Nigiri Sushi, Blue Fin Tuna (Maguro) Nigiri Sushi, Scallop Nigiri Sushi, Middle Fatty Tuna (Chu Toro) Nigiri Sushi

All the ingredients are freshly imported from Hokkaido to deliver an authentic taste that captures the essence of Japan’s four seasons. Kampai KLCC’s chefs believe in the philosophy of Harmony (和wa) as they skillfully blend flavors and techniques to deliver an extraordinaire dining experience.
