Dancing Fish – Michelin Bib Gourmand Award 2023, 2024 & 2025 award winner has opened in The Campus, Ampang!
Since 2010, Dancing Fish has been dedicated in crafting authentic Malay-Indo cuisine in BSC Bangsar, with menuin inspired by the lush abundance of our lands and seas. Dishes here tells a story of nature’s harmony, brought to life by passionate chefs who transform fresh, natural ingredients into memorable culinary experiences.
It’s great to see that after almost 15 years, Dancing Fish finally has a second home, right in KL latest community hub – The Campus Ampang. Diners would love this new space, where contemporary design meets the elegance of nature elements, incorporated with timeless beauty of Bali.
Glad to be part of their opening event celebration, sampling their all-time-favourites and signatures from Emping with Sambal Terasi to Dancing Fish, Buntut Belado Enak, Nasi Kuning Berempah, Bebek Goreng, Charcoal Grilled Chicken Satay, and more.
Appetizer Platter
A generous serving of Dancing Fish’s best appetizers. Hearty Pepes Goreng Sambal Matah, refreshing Salad Mangga Mangga, Cumi-cumi Goreng, Charcoal grill chicken satay.
Dancing Fish with Sambal Dabu-dabu
Fresh-from-the-tank Ikan Nila deep fried to golden brown, served in a presentation that mimics its graceful movements, alongside traditional salsa sauce from Manado, Indonesia.
Udang Sambal Hitam Madura
Summerkid’s favourite! Fresh Tiger prawns, wok-fried with Madurese black spiced chili paste – a type of bold, spicy sauce made onions, chili, garlic, spices, enhanced a hint of sweetness.
Bebek Goreng
A popular Indonesian dish, prepared using duck marinated in signature mix of Balinese herbs & spices for 24-hours, before deep fried to perfection. While we enjoyed the crispy skin, the meat is slightly dry to us.
Buntut Berlado Enak
Must-order dish if you like oxtail. Dancing Fish’s version uses Australian oxtail, marinated and braised with herbs and spices. Further flame-grilled over charcoal for smoky, charred flavours – sooooo delicious. Served with chilli jeruk belado.
Fun fact: Dancing Fish has 20 over varieties of sambals and sauces, all painstakingly made from scratch.
Gulai Pucuk-paku
Young fiddlehead fern shoots cooked with turmeric, coconut milk and spices. Scoop the sauce over steaming hot white rice, just one dish is good enough for a quick, comforting dinner for Summergirl on a normal day.
For dessert, we had Ais Kacang and Cendol. Portion that is good enough to share between 2-3 persons. We returned again with the family, and they loved it too!
