New Black Coffee Lab 新黑咖啡 @ Plaza Crystalville, Setapak

The list of coffee places to hunt for never ends, just getting longer. There’s a number of promising coffee places which we are keen to visit, but the crowds just keep us away, especially when we are into getting a quiet place to sit back and relax. And we found this hidden gem in Setapak. Located in Plaza Crystalville, above Domino’s Pizza, this small cafe which has opened for more than a year isn’t popular as some coffee places, but the tranquil and peaceful ambience is the reason that makes us come back. And we hope that the calm atmosphere here can continue, away from noise.

It is a perfect quiet place to have some reading, revision or just surfing the internet together with a cuppa of good coffee. The entire cafe isn’t big, with about 10 tables. Coffee is the major selling points here, while food choices are limited to simple pasta, sandwich, waffles and cakes.

Flat White
New Black has fresh beans imported and roasts them in house. Besides serving latte, cappuccinos, flat white, etc. from their La Marzocco espresso machine, one can also opt to have their coffee in syphon, flannel and paper drip styles. New Black also promotes special premium blend every month, which diners can have this monthly speciality combined with quality beans from Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Indonesia, Columbia, Costa Rica, and more.
