BOH Tea Centre Sungai Palas, Cameron Highlands

February 2, 2017 by summerkid_summergirl

BOH Tea Centre Sungai Palas at Brinchang, Cameron Highlands – a popular tourist attraction in recent years. Comparing to Cameron Valley by Bharat Tea Plantations, which can be seen along the road going up to Brinchang town, Sungai Palas Boh Tea Plantation is much difficult to reach, but certainly worth a visit.

How to go Sungai Palas Boh Tea Centre

As you come up from Tanah Rata, after passing through Copthorne Hotel Cameron Highlands, you’ll see Cameron Square Mall on your right not long after. At this point, the road branch out to three- turn right for Cameron Square Mall, continue straight towards Lavender Farm. The unassuming, narrow road on your left is the path you should turn into.

We felt that signboard for Boh Sungai Palas is quite confusing. One is pointing in the direction towards Lavender Farm, while another towards mountain path on left. We actually went on the wrong way using main road, because we thought “Famous tourist place wor, sure next to big road”. Hahaha.. Mana tau… In the end turned back and got help from Waze.

The route going up to Boh Sungai Palas was stressful. Not a long journey but takes time because the lane is small and winding. At some point, the path can fit only one car. We had to stop and let cars from the opposite direction to pass through. Do honk loudly to alert car approaching in reverse side, especially at corner blind spot. Very scary so drive carefully. Hurry doesn’t help.

Everything turned worthwhile when a breathtaking view of sprawling tea plantation, covering thousands acres came in sight.

What to do in Sungai Palas Boh Tea Centre

Parked at the free opened carpark, walked up some staircases to reach BOH Sungai Palas Tea Garden, a nice building perched on a hill, offering panoramic view of lush greenery.

BOH plantation, being the largest tea brand in Malaysia, has three main farms in Cameron Highlands, namely Sungai Palas, Habu Ringlet and Fairlie Estate. Sungai Palas Boh Tea Centre is a newer place that consists of a tea plantation, cafe, gallery, tea factory, and souvenir shop.

Here, you can sip on a glass BOH tea in their cafe while enjoying a great scenery of plants and tea grown on rolling mountains.

Dining area is sectioned into indoor and outdoor. Most visitors will look for al-fresco seats first, as it has better view, more windy. Indoor is not bad too, as all tables are stretch out next to the windows, you can still have a glimpse of the fantastic view while sipping on tea. Boh Sungai Palas cafe opens from 9AM – 4.30PM daily except on Monday. Weekday is of course a better option but weekend is fine too, even though crowded.

Food wise, the cafe offers only light meal such as bread, sandwich, pies and cakes, complement with famous BOH tea in various varieties. Reasonable price, just, as expected, the taste wasn’t good. We had Teh Tarik Kurang Manis, Strawberry Cake, Sausage Pie and Egg Sandwich. You may want to try out highly recommended Nasi Lemak Cheese Cake, Strawberry Cheese Cake and Banana Cake.

After that, walk into the tea farm and get your best picture of you surrounding by fresh, green tea leaves!

Sungai Palas BOH Tea Plantion also has a Tea Factory, a worth-visiting place that offers educational tour on how tea is being processed using traditional method. It is opened to public, free entry. You can also buy home BOH tea as souvenirs for your friends and family.

The shops and exhibition gallery is located after the washroom area. We didn’t give these places a visit, as the sky looked gloomy after we finished our food at BOH Tea Garden. Decided to leave quickly before the rain came, and check-in to Nova Residences and Resorts.
