Sunway Putra Hotel – an ideal accommodation choice for both business and leisure travellers to Kuala Lumpur. It provides easy access to major attractions in Kuala Lumpur city center with public transport PWTC Star LRT station which is just 5 minutes walking away. The mall beside has plenty of food selections, from local fares to Asian delights and Western cuisines. However, if you feel like staying in and enjoy a nice meal in the hotel itself, do check out GEN Japanese Restaurant located at Level 10 of Sunway Putra Hotel. It is a pork-free Japanese restaurant, Zen and cozy, with lovely view of Kuala Lumpur suburb.
We visited this place last week for Hot & Sizzling Teppanyaki dinner, one of their back-by-popular-demand food promotions that covers Japanese Teppanyaki ala-carte menu from as low as RM9, 3 types of set menu, and Japanese Inspired Buffet priced at RM118 for lunch, RM128 for dinner.
Summergirl went for Hokkaido Seafood Set Menu at RM120.
Such a hearty platter! Large pieces of salmon fillet, scallop and King Tiger Prawns Teppanyaki taking the center stage, sided with Zensai Appetizer of the Day, Chef’s House Salad, Miso Soup, Fried Rice and Stir-Fried Oriental Vegetables.
While we enjoyed the big and plump scallops seared with juiciness, the salmon was our top favourite. Loved how it was cooked to just nice, soft and locked with moist.
Sauces for the teppanyaki and beef steak
Teppanyaki Matsu Set Menu (RM50)
For Teppanyaki Matsu, diners can opt for chicken or beef. We went for the later. Suggest to ask for medium rare doneness beef for better steak eating experience.
Alternatively, you can order these items separately. Choices including salmon, hotate, chicken, mixed vegetables, lobster, king tiger prawns, beef mignon. You can also order fried rice to go with your meat or seafood!
We actually didn’t put much expectation to the fried rice initially as the seafood seems more intrigued. But we were wrong, it was nice! Flavourful, pleasingly laced with garlicky hints. Simple comfort food, but noteworthy.
Our friend came later and she had this Teppanyaki Yasai RM45, which turned out to be Summergirl’s favourite.
Deep fried tofu dressed in house special teppanyaki sauce, liberally topped with shimeiji mushroom and chopped scallions. Soft but dense tofu, jacketed with golden brown outer layer that has absorbed flavours of teppanyaki sauce, maintaining a thin layer of crispiness to give more bites.
Overall, had a decent dinner at GEN Japanese Restaurant. Our personal favourites are tofu from Yasai Teppanyaki Set, Fried Rice and Teppanyaki Salmon. This promotion runs from now till 31 December 2018. Check out before the deals ends.
