Encik Tan Malaysia @ Shoppes, Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur

While Malaysia Boleh! at Shoppes, Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur has fast becoming one of the most-talked about food courts since they opened their doors to the public few weeks ago, the less-mentioned Encik Tan, which is right next to it, has raised our attention too as we passed by, thanks to its photography-worthy interior.

Back to Four Seasons Place for dinner again, checking out what Encik Tan has to offer. Originated from Singapore as a famous HALAL cafe, Encik Tan offers delicacies like chicken wanton noodles, Singapore Laksa, Fried Chicken Rice, Fishball Noodles, Sambal Sotong Rice, just to name a few.

Price is reasonable too, starting from RM9 and not more than RM20.

Among all the food we tried, Encik Tan Singapore Laksa RM10 is our personal favourite. Looks simple but tasty.

Silky Beans sprout, fish cake slices, tau pok and halved egg top over silky smooth noodles in rich, bright orange broth – simple, but tasty. Love how the aromatic hints of stir-fried dried shrimp helps to lift up the overall flavours.

Wanton Noodles tossed in Encik Tan housemade special sauce, topped with chicken char siew slices is not bad too. For ala-carte RM9, the noodles comes with a bowl of wanton in soup.

We recommend to go for the Wanton Noodle Set RM15 as there’s an extra bowl of deep fried wanton. Crispy golden skin, wrapping in minced chicken – our all time favourite snack.

Chicken Drumstick with egg, rice and Hainanese sauce RM15– comfort food that we’ll hardly say no too. Portion is generous, and the rice came dressed with Hainanese sauce in almost banjir-style.

We were told that original Hainanese sauce is thicker, a bit gooey-like. Some may not like it. Hence Encik Tan gives a twist on the consistency, toning down the thickness to make it easier to enjoy. And yeah, quiet a decent version, we like.

Ordered Sambal Sotong Set RM18 too, as it looks good from the menu picture. Thankfully it doesn’t disappoint. Large, about 6 inches long sotong was given, beautifully dressed in red hot chilli sambal. Had it together with the Hainanese sauce for more spicy kick.

Fish balls and fish cake are something Encik Tan prides as, as there are freshly made using yellow tail fish, not the more common ikan parang fish balls. In Singapore, only cafes and restaurants under their establishment are serving these fish balls.

Have it together with Encik Tan Signature Noodles Set RM15 , or more commonly known as Mee Pok.

Other food selections here include Chicken Meatball Noodle, Chicken Cutlet Noodle, Fried Prawn Rice with Egg, Chicken Cutlet Rice with Egg. An ideal place for busy office staffs to get their quick lunch and dinner at around RM10-RM20.
