WURST KL, MOV Hotel: Slides Down to a Modern Deli Restaurant

October 4, 2018 by summerkid_summergirl

WURST KL MOV hotel

Just 2 minutes walk from Bukit Bintang street art, we discovered a really lovely yet noteworthy dining place called WURST KL, hidden at the lower ground floor of MOV Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

WURST KL MOV hotel

WURST is prides for their homemade gourmet sausage, alongside with homemade meatballs, fresh pastas, authentic haggis, mussels and all things delicious. And yay, not to forget, discover Loggy’s Noir Du Blanc – a dessert incorporated with WURST head chef’s very own childhood’s favourite that we believe you will love too!

Another fun part – you can slide down to the restaurant using this adult slide. Of course kids can also try it!

The restaurant might not boast a great stream of natural light nor have a gorgeous al-fresco dining area, but this doesn’t make it less photography-worthy, thanks to its inviting decor that put together modern contemporary design with pastel charm. Personally, we feel that WURST KL fits well as a cafe for breakfast and brunch by day; a restaurant for casual dining with your favourite booze in the evening.

Let’s get the food tasting started!

WURST KL MOV hotel

Began with Salmorejo Soup RM23, a classic soup originated from Spain, prepared using tomatoes and bread to create rich, creamy consistency. Finished with egg, smoked duck and a swirl of extra virgin olive oil for more flavours.

It is traditionally served cold but in WURST KL, chef adds warmth to the soup, making it more comforting.

Angus beef meatballs RM25

Next, some juicy, meaty bites from WURST Angus beef meatballs! Dressed in tomato passata, paneer cheese, and a side of sweetcorn bread for you to mop up the last of the yummy sauce.

Wagyu Bone Marrow RM28

We first tried Wagyu Bone Marrow in BAIT Bangsar – a fantastic oyster bar & seafood restaurant in KL. Glad to see this dish again on WURST menu, and the taste doesn’t disappoint.

Scoop out the jelly-like, melt-in-the-mouth  bone marrow goodness from the centre of the bone, spread it over bread together with green olive tapenade, truffle butter, onion compote and brown gravy.

WURST is one of the very few places in Kuala Lumpur to serve Haggis RM36 – a famous Scottish food primarily made from minced lungs, liver and heart of a sheep, further flavoured up with herbs and infused with Ardbeg whiskey sauce. Usually served alongside with bashed neeps, or mashed turnips.

The concoction could be an acquired taste to many of us, but do put your taste bud on an adventure whenever you are here, because this is where you can get the classic haggis in KL without flying the miles.

WURST KL MOV hotel

Fish & Chips RM35 with battered barrramundi fillet deep fried to crispy golden brown on the outside, complete with sweet potato chips, mushy peas & remoulade made in house. Summergirl’s favourite!

Lamb Chop RM35

“Sous vide for 24 hours” – no reason for not trying when we saw this written next to lamb chop on the menu. Amazing tenderness aside, we like the way sundried tomatoes, feta crumbs, boiled potatoes, espagnole sauce come together to enhance the overall flavours.

Other than haggis, do not leave WURST Mov Hotel without checking out their artisan sausages! There are more than 10 types of gourmet sausages to choose from – Beef Sarawak Pepper, Beef-Cajun Spice, Salmon-Beetroot, Chicken-Green Curry, Chicken-Cumberland, Jumbo-Smoked Beef, Jumbo-chicken cheese, Mutton-Spicy, Veal-provencale Herb and more.

Had Salmon-Beetroot Sausage RM26, sided with zingy sauerkraut, grilled corn bread, flinders leave, mustard and brown gravy. No complains, LIKE. Why food by Chef Logan always so nice?! Already thinking which type of sausages to try on for our next visit. Lol.

Cedar plank salmon RM37, with roasted eggplant & 7′ herb Frankfurther sauce. Last main course of the day, before we moved forward to the long awaiting dessert we mentioned earlier in this blog post –  Loggy’s Noir Du Blanc!

Loggy’s Noir Du Blanc RM29 – a sweet treat ideal for sharing, but you probably don’t want to if you are sweet tooth like Sumergirl.  Two scoops of gelato, texture added with honeycomb and charcoal crumbs, plus subtle hints of salted sugar to balance up the sweetness.

Come discover yourself the last ingredient in this dessert, you might grow up drinking this beverage. =D

Secret tips: Do check out “a special beverage made from apple” – ask the staff and they will know it. It is not on the menu, available in limited quantity. Must-try!

Overall review: Forget about the hustle and bustle on the ground, visit WURST to chill, relax and enjoy good food that makes you happy. More joys with wine, beers and cocktails too!
