Tuck inside BookXcess Bookstore of Mytown Shopping Mall, Umei Tei is a reputable, decades old Japanese restaurant, serving authentic Japanese food at affordable price. Here, you can get a hearty bowl of rice bowl for less than RM15, and generous portion set menu for less than RM30. Oyakodon is only priced at RM13, Chicken Teriyaki Don is only RM15, Beef Gyudon is only RM15, just to name a few.
For Teishoku, they got plenty of mix & match. Bara Chirashi Set, Nigiri Sushi Set, Salmon Sashimi Set, Ochazuke Set, Yamakake Set, Yasai Jiru Set, Goya Set, Chicken/Beef Katsu Curry Set, Miso Chicken Set, Tempura Sashimi Set, Unagi Tamagotoji Set, Sukiyaki Chicken/beef set, Teppan Oyster Set, Saba Teriyaki Set, Salmon Butteryaki Set, Korokke Set, Chicken/ Beef Katsu set and more.
They even have rice + noodles set, such as Yakisoba set- where you can a plate of Yakisoba along with Chicken Katsu, rice, miso soup, appetizer and dessert; Shoyu/Miso/Gyokai Ramen Set – a combi of ramen soup, chicken katsu, Japanese rice, dessert, appetizer. Remind us about our good old days travelling in Japan.
Another worthwhile part is, you can choose between white rice or garlic rice, at no additional charges.
You won’t go wrong with their deep fried items, be it chicken katsu or chicken karaage. Chicken karaage is our highly recommended dish. Served pipping-hot, these golden brown morsels are so crunchy at the outside, locked in with juiciness within.
And we opted for additional sashimi, which is available only with the Chicken Karaage Set. Only cost us RM2 extra for these fresh, beautiful slices of sashimi. Must-try value set.
Ume Tei also have ala-carte selections like sushi, sushi nigiri, sashimi, teppanyaki, yakimono, deep fried food, dessert on the menu.
Big love for this hidden gem. Certainly a Japanese Restaurant that we don’t mind returning over and over again for delicious Japanese delights. Staffs are friendly and attentive too!
