Recent months has been quite happening for Hyatt Hotels in Malaysia. With Hyatt Centric City Centric Kuala Lumpur, Park Hyatt Menara 118, and now the opening of Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown, it’s been hotel after hotel – and each one feels totally different.
We just went for a weekend staycation at the new Hyatt Regency KL, and honestly, we really enjoyed the whole experience.
What makes this hotel stand out is how calm and peaceful it feels, even though it’s right in the city. The hotel is designed by the famous Japanese architect, Kengo Kuma, and you can really feel the nature-inspired touches everywhere.
Lots of wood, earthy colours, high ceilings, and soft lighting. We loved how relaxing the space felt, especially in the evening when the lights were dim and the whole place felt very calm.
We stayed in the Deluxe Room, 42 sqm King room, designed for ultimate comfort. Hyatt Regency offers 306 guest rooms and suites, including 104 serviced residences with kitchenettes and full-sized fridge – ideal for longer stays or families.
Our window looked out to a construction site (not the best view yet), but knowing that this area will soon be full of shops, offices, residences, and even a future MRT station, it’s exciting to see it grow. The location is actually really convenient, just 5 minutes’ walk to MITEC and easy access to highways too.
65″ Smart HDTV, block out curtains, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, a multifunctional alarm clock, a coffee machine and a well-stocked minibar. We can also select our preferred pillow from the pillow menu!
Clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed with the same Zen-like calm found throughout the hotel.
Huge restrooms with bath tub. Of course Summerkid gets his must-have soak in the tub with his LUSH bath bomb.
One of our favourite parts of the stay was the afternoon tea at the lounge. It’s not your typical buffet-style. Here, the food is served course-by-course so everything stays warm (or cold, if it’s dessert).
We had bites like Korean fried chicken bao, satays, and sweet treats like honey madeleines and mini Berliners. Desserts are presented from an elegant trolley alongside a selection of signature teas.
Dinner was at Midtown Brasserie, the hotel’s lively all-day dining spot. Like that they have a lot of interactive live cooking stations, where chefs prepare all dishes freshly ala – minute.
Just take the mini wooden spoons at your table and drop to respective plates, and chef will fire your order – pasta, skewers of lamb, beef, chicken, hand-pulled Damien noodles, and the must-not-miss Black Pepper Crab. For dessert, make sure to try the French Toast – seriously worth the calories and we don’t mind getting extra helping, and not sharing. Haha.
After dinner, we walked around the hotel, admiring the thoughtful art displays. Tip: look up when you’re on the escalator- you might miss the stunning installations otherwise.
For those craving a bit of nightlife without leaving the hotel, Enzo Izakaya & Bar offers a breezy alfresco setting, extensive collection of sake and Japanese spirits, cocktails that blend traditional Japanese ingredients with modern twist, and curated tunes by resident DJs. It’s got that easygoing city lounge vibe – sociable, but not rowdy. Best place for skyline sips in Midtown KL.
Rise & Shine!
We went for Level 5 hotel swimming pool. Didn’t expect the KL skyline views here to be so amazing! You can see everything from KLCC to Merdeka 118, such a great way to start the day.
24-hour gym which is located on the 5th floor. Personal trainers are available upon request to create customized workout programs tailored to individual fitness goals.
Breakfast brought us back to Midtown Brasserie, where the spread was generous and varied. A mix of Western and local options, fresh juices, and pastries. Soya and deep fried crullers are part of the selections too! Highly recommend the waffle made-upon-order. Crisp at the outside, fluffy within – soooo good.
A Few Extras : If you’re staying in the Club rooms, you get access to the Regency Club Lounge on the 21st floor. They offer private check-in/out, snacks all day, evening cocktails, and even a small boardroom you can use if you’re here for work.
Our last big food moment came at China House, the hotel’s signature Chinese restaurant.
This pork-free space combines regional cuisines across China into one menu, featuring everything from dim sum to Rambutan Wood-Fired Peking Duck.
Complementing our meal with tea served from China House’s dedicated tea house, where experts guide us through the essential experience of tea pairing from a selection of over 50 special Chinese teas and floral infusion.
Even with only one night at Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur, we felt like we got a real escape without ever leaving the city. Whether you’re here for a business trip, a weekend staycation, or just to explore the new KL Midtown area, Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur manages to hit that rare balance: sophisticated yet welcoming, modern yet grounded, indulgent yet relaxed.
