The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur proudly unveils The Botanist’s Study Afternoon Tea at The Drawing Room — a reimagined afternoon tea ritual inspired by the layered landscapes of Perdana Botanical Gardens Kuala Lumpur. Conceived as a curated field exploration, the experience reinterprets the gardens’ nine distinct environments into edible specimens of flavor, texture, and form.

Each creation iscomposed through the lens of a botanist — not as a conventional floral interpretation, but as an immersive examination of nature itself. Presented within abotanical laboratory setting, complete with magnifying glasses, petri dishes, conical beakers, and specimen vessels, the experience transformsafternoon tea into a refined sensory journey where science, nature, and culinary craftsmanship quietly converge.

At the House of Astor, afternoon tea remains one of St. Regis’ most cherished rituals, shaped by a legacy of timeless elegance and cultivated social grace. With The Botanist’s Study, this tradition evolves into a contemporary expression of botanical artistry, as The Drawing Room becomes an intimate setting where guests engage with flavor, structure, and form through a distinctly scientific lens.
Delicate savories, sculpted pastries, and thoughtfully composed infusions unfold as a multisensory interpretation of nature, expressed with elegance and restraint.
THE CULINARY PHILOSOPHY: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN SCIENCE AND ARTISTRY
At the heart of The Botanist’s Study Afternoon Tea are Executive Sous Chef Mohd Sakhawiand Executive Pastry Chef Azizul Bistaman, whose collaboration is shaped by a shared culinary philosophy of observation, precision, and interpretation. Inspired by the natural rhythm of the gardens, the menu reimagines afternoon tea through composed savories and sculpted pastries, each created with intention and balance.

“We approached this experience as a dialogue between science and artistry, where each creation is shaped by precision and imagination. It is our intention to transform the familiar ritual of afternoon tea into something quietly extraordinary, expressed through texture, form, and refined flavor.”
— Chef Azizul Bistaman, Executive Pastry Chef
Within The Drawing Room at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, this philosophy unfolds through an atmosphere of quiet luxury, where luminaries spend an afternoon in celebration of botanical beauty, craftsmanship, and discovery.
A JOURNEY THROUGH NINE BOTANICAL LANDSCAPES
The Botanist’s Study Afternoon Tea unfolds as a curated journey through nine botanical landscapes inspired by the natural beauty of Kuala Lumpur’s Perdana Botanical Gardens. Thoughtfully designed as a progression of flavor and discovery, each course invites guests into a world where nature, artistry, and culinary expression exist in harmony.

The experience begins with First Course — Sunken Garden, where Heirloom Tomato Textures introduce a delicate expression of freshness and depth.
The journey continues with Savory Delights, inspired by Perdana Lake, KL Bird Park, Herbs & Herbarium Garden, and Deer Park. Refined creations of poached prawn, smoked duck croquette, aromatic herbs, and earthy beetroot celebrate the distinct character and diversity of each botanical landscape.

An elegant pause follows with The Botanist’s Herbarium, an intermediate course inspired by preserved florals and botanical study, offering a whimsical moment of discovery before the experience unfolds into dessert.

The experience then carries on with Sweet Delights, where Hibiscus Garden, Orchid Garden, Butterfly Park, and Perdana Canopy bloom through refined pastry creations inspired by the colors, textures, and beauty of nature.

Conclude with freshly baked plain and hazelnut raisin scones served with mixed berry jam and clotted cream provide a timeless finale, honoring the ritual of afternoon tea through a distinctly botanical lens.
