At certain points, we do admit that gimmick plays a role in making a cafe stands out from others, especially when the town is overwhelmed with coffee places, and new cafe seems to surface at unexpected corners of KL and Klang Valley almost every day.
Dr. Inc at Jalan Kemuja, Bangsar appears to be one of them, hiddenly located within a housing area yet not too far from the hustle of city. No attractive shop front, Dr. Inc humbly stands with a row of shop houses cover from hardware shops, eateries, mini market and so.
Look for Fierce Curry House which serves one of the best Banana Leaf Rice in Town, or Straits Food Company, the expert of Nyonya food by Baba Low, you will come across Dr. Inc houses in between them, just next to Seong Bee Hardware Sdn. Bhd. to be exact.
Dr. Inc welcomes guests with an al-fresco area that allows you to relax as morning breeze caress your cheek; when afternoon reach, we suggest you to move inside, where behind the glass doors artistically scribbled with words in red paints, you have an elongated area with comfy seats to chill out.
White walls for a clean interior, coupled with old-style floor tiles, ceiling light bulbs, wooden tables and chairs in bright colour for a more lively finish. Further enhanced with charming decorations mostly by Nala design, a product line that draws from the wealth of inspiration of Malaysia’s melting pot of Chinese, Malay and Indian culture.
Lots of merchandise can be purchased too, ranging from napkins, note books, gift cards, ang pau, dining wares, wrapping paper, pillow covers, tote bag, etc..
Not too bad for the entire design of space, yet not outstanding if were to compare with many other coffee places. So what drives us here? What’s the gimmick part?
Dr. Inc definitely prides for their Signature drinks, do not leave the cafe without ordering any of them :
1. Magic (Double espresso flat white consistency served warm) RM14.00
2. Che Guevara (2 espresso over ice with lemon and a pinch of sugar) RM14.00
3. Presso Bomb (1 shot espresso + 1 tall glass of ice cream soda) RM14.00
4. Fat Americano (1 shot of espresso + 1 tall glass of coke) RM14.00
Fat Americano RM14.00 We had Fat Americano, an extraordinary coffee which Dr. Inc discovered in Korea. Americo is a combination of espresso + water, and what makes this Fat Americano different is they replaces water with Coke, or Coca-Cola.
The concoction of Coke with espresso is amazing – the fiziness, sweetness, bitterness all comes to a well balance. One of the baristas in Dr. Inc recommended us to drink straight from the glass without using straw to experience the creamy sensation delivered by crema, with a touch of CO2 from this carbonated drink.
Flat White RM10.00 Coffee in black and white, tea, cold pressed juices are available too. We didn’t find any food from the menu currently, but not too sure in future.
