We’ve been to Japan only once but ever since then, we fall in love with this country. Food, people, scenery, merchandise, theme park – almost everything there were so memorable. We miss Japan so much that we occasionally ask friends who travel to Japan to buy us souvenirs, snacks and beauty products most of the time. Until we find an online shopping website named Ippin, our request for gifts from Japan have lessen, because can now shop for original Japan products through this platform! And is tax-free!

ippin-snacks

From food like noodles, precooked meals, canned foods, sweets, snacks, seasonings, tea, supplement to kitchen tools, bento goods, clothing, shoes, bag, cosmetics, baby products, electrical appliances, Japanese crafts and even camera, you can get them on the website. Our focus is always on food. Hahaha. So we browse through their “food” section and purchase 3 items this time – Samurai Ramen, Arare rice crackers, and Tsujirihei Honten Matcha Baumkuchen Cake.

Yay! Our products reached only within 5 working days, sent by EMS (check out shipping rates HERE). Each item is nicely protected by bubble wrap, which is important to us because we bought snack, crackling crispy types. Hahaha. We do not want to have smashed crackers though.

So excited that we opened up the Samurai Ramen UMAMI the next day for lunch. This brand is animal and alcohol free. In other word, no pork, no beef, no chicken as stated on the packaging.

Medium thickness broth, very comforting and paired really well with the slippery smooth, thin ramen. Cooking direction mentioned that you can cook the noodle for 3 minutes but we like ours more springy, so we waited for roughly 2 minutes. Good too!

There are 2 packets in one box, come with chopsticks. We added soft boiled eggs, pan seared chicken and chopped onions for more fulfilling meal. Portion is quite large though so we shared one bowl together.

Still have room for dessert after that so we decided to try out Tsujirihei Honten Matcha Baumkuchen Cake, which is said to be one of the top baumkuchens from Uji, Kyoto, Japan. Feel so reluctant to open this because we bought only one. Finish means no more but no point keeping it, as baumkuchen cannot be kept for too long. Expensive but definitely worth the price. Moist, intense with flavours of matcha, not too sweet. better if added with a scoop of matcha ice cream.

Oh yeah! There is something for us to munch while watching our HK drama this weekend.

Snacking time with Arare rice crackers, our all-time-favourite soy sauce-flavoured Japanese snack. For Tokyo Osama version, there are 4 flavours to choose from in ippin.com.my, namely Seaweed, Wasabi, Matcha and Red Pepper. Each of this is HALAL certified, made in Japan. We like the Wasabi flavour the most, so addictive with pungent wasabi kick.

Overall, we had a great shopping experience for products in Japan with ippin.com.my. We are adding more items into our Ippin shopping cart already. Trying out the Matcha Chocolate Balls and Ariheitou Matcha-Coated Soybean Sweets soon!
