The month of Bulan Puasa is celebrated with a month of reflection and peace. In observation of this holy month, Executive Chef Rudy Junaidie and his chefs are bringing a sense of nostalgia by paying tribute to age-old recipes and cooking techniques transverse through generations, budding cherished memories of get-together with beloved families over delicious meals prepared by mothers. With Warisan Bonda as the theme for this year, Grand Millenium Kuala Lumpur is dedicating its respect to heritage dishes, fostering emotional connections through convivial dining.
Of all, Ayam Bakar Tempayan is the proud highlight of this year’s buffet. This traditional method of slow-roasting chicken in clay oven with charcoal at 170C results in smoky, earthy flavour and tender texture from the meats. These juicy chicken are marinated one day ahead in five variety of special marinades – Rosemary Garlic, Honey, Lemon Basil, Percik and Five Spice.
The sumptuous buffet also features classic Malay appetizers such as Ulam-ulaman, Pecal, Kerabu, Lemang, Serunding, Bubur Lambuk, Rendang Tok, Ayam Kapitan, Ikan PAri Masak Assam Pedas, Telor Itik Masak Lemak dengan Belimbing Buloh, Sotong Masak Hitam and many more. Popular favourites from the Chinese and Indian kitchens like Hot and Sour Szechuan Soup, Penang Char Koay Teow, Chicken Paratel, Lamb Saagwala, Gobi Matar, Dhal Fry add diversity to the flavourful selction on the buffet line-up.
On international front, guests can meander their way through the Middle Eastern station that pays homage to Sharwarma, Lebanese Kharoof Roasted Whole Lamb and Nasi Bukhari. Not forgetting, a Japanese section offers assorted Sushi, Maki, Nigiri, Tuna and Salmon Don and Tempura.
Drawing inspiration from women earning their living from selling snacks on raised platforms in the markets at some rural locations in the country, the Jajan Pasar station serves an array of local sweets that will delight the palate of any dessert lover. Plus, a dedicated international sweets buffet showcasing Sticky Banana Pudding, Creme Brulee, Strawberry Cream Cheesecake and Biscoff Cream Puff, to name a few, and refreshing beverages that makes a perfect round-up to the entire dining experience.
To add a touch of camaraderie, a Ghazal performance by the lively Picha-picha Band Linda Eva is set to entertain guests while they converse and dine.
