Zipangu by Nadaman, the exquisite Japanese dining gem nestled within Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, is thrilled to unveil its new menu – a gastronomic voyage meticulously crafted by the esteemed Japanese Head Chef, Kazuo Takizawa. With over 30 years of culinary expertise, Chef Takizawa has seamlessly blended the old with the new, putting together traditional dishes with contemporary flair for a dining experience that is both authentic and innovative.

Born into a family of culinary artisans, Chef Takizawa’s passion for cooking was ignited by his father, a celebrated chef in his own right. Inspired by his father’s legacy and driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, Chef Takizawa begins on a lifelong quest to perfect the fine flavours of Japanese cuisine.

At Zipangu, his expertise is showcased through an array of exquisite dishes that reflect his passion and dedication to the culinary arts. The menu is a testament to his remarkable journey, offering guests a chance to taste the fruits of his lifelong dedication.

Visited Zipangu Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur for dinner few weeks ago. Our meal started with a symphony of flavours presented through appetizers – Japanese Style Hors d’Oeuvre, featuring 5 kinds of Japanese delights, artfully arranged to tantalize your taste buds with a medley of flavours and textures. Chawanmushi with Foie Gras- a smooth, silky egg custard that quite literally melts in your mouth, is a must-have.

Sashimi selections are a testament to the precision and artistry of Japanese cuisine. Indulge in the “Toro” Prime Tuna Belly and ‘Harasu’ Salmon Belly, where both are fresh, buttery and delicate.

We also sampled few of the crowd-favourite sushi creations, including the visually stunning and explosively flavorful Premium Dragon Roll, Soft Shell Crab Roll, Sour Plum and Shiso Leaf Roll, and not to be missed is the Tokyo Roll, a delightful journey through Tokyo’s diverse culinary influences, capturing vibrant essence of the city’s renowned food scene. California hand rolls and sushi rolls start from RM 26nett.

Zipangu’s tempura selections showcase the delicate mastery of frying, with prawn tempura, crispy fish, deep-fried vegetables and more, each delivering an exquisite interplay of flavors and textures.

Highlight of the day – the A5 Japanese Halal Wagyu Beef Sirloin for main course! Beautiful marbling beef, done right for the rich, buttery texture.

Chef Takizawa thoughtfully caters to vegetarians too with Seasonal Vegetable Ratatouille, a medley of seasonal vegetables prepared in a rich and flavorful ratatouille sauce, providing a satisfying and wholesome option for vegetarian diners. Young diners can relish the specially curated Junior Bento featuring deep-fried prawn, chicken cutlet, prawn fritter with mayonnaise, potato salad, egg sushi, Chawanmushi, and a choice of mini Udon or Japanese ketchup chicken rice with Miso soup.

End the dinner in sweet note with Matcha Mochi ‘Anmitsu’, a dessert that marries the bold allure of matcha with refreshing sweetness of Anmitsu, along with QQ mochi for extra bites.

Diners can also experience Chef Takizawa’s culinary expertise through exclusive offerings like the Chef’s special Shokado bento box, perfect for lunch. The Bento box price starts from RM 108nett. In the evening, savor the meticulously crafted Omakase Kaiseki, priced from RM 688nett. Moreover, Zipangu provides private rooms ideal for hosting special occasions, whether it’s an intimate family gathering or a corporate soirée, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience for guests.
