March 3, 2016 by summerkid_summergirl

Ewha Womans University is the first educational institute for women in Korea, also one of the most reputable universities in the country. It was founded in year of 1886, offering more than 60 major of studies, 15 graduate schools, 11 colleges and quite a number of research institutes. Hmm, pretty general facts that that raise “ooo..”  and “I see…” between us at first.

However when we browsed through websites on “What to Do in Seoul” , Ewha Womans University goes to the the top 10 list for tourist attractions in Seoul. Now it goes beyond just “ooo..” and “I see…” , we began feeling curious to know what’s so special about this most beautiful campus in South Korea.

We had a half day trip here on our 4th day in Seoul, starting with Isaac Toast & Coffee, a popular breakfast chains located around Ehwa Woman University shopping district. Simple toast but surprisingly delicious, memorable version. You can also find Isaac Toast in Dongdaemun, Myeongdong, Hongdae, etc..In short, MUST TRY when you see the shop.

How to get to Ewha Womans University? MTR subway align at Ewha Womans University Station (Green Line 2, 241), follow Exit 2 and you will reach a row of street food stalls on your right upon exiting; a garden and yes! apM on your left. Go along the street food stalls, passing Olleh, BR ice cream, Aritaum. Till the end of the road, main entrance is in front of you. You can also come out from Exit 3, where you will see plenty of cosmetic shops, boutiques along the road. Also walk straight till the end.

Ewha Womans University is beautiful right from the entrance, with stunning European style buildings around the campus. Our walking trail in Ewha begin with ECC, followed by garden at the end of the staircases. After Pfeiffer Hall, we turned left to Pharmaceutical Science Building A, Case Hall Emerson Chapel, Clara Hall , Welch-Ryang Auditorium and then back to main entrance.

6 Must See Buildings in Ewha Womans University:

1)Ewha Campus Complex (ECC)

A large-scale structure that has 6-levels under the ground, covering over 66,000 metre squares area. We climbed up the staircases, and continued to be amazed with lush greenery – a dreamy garden.

2) Pfeiffer Hall

The main hall, a stone building constructed in Gothic architectural style. Look nearer you will see crossed engraved in every upper part of the walls.

3) Pharmaceutical Science Building A

A tin-roofed stone building with outfront is similar to Ewha Womans University’s main hall. This building accommodates pharmacy & medical students.

4) Case Hall Emerson Chapel

Case Hall is named after Ms. Sarah Esther Case to recognize her achievement and contribution in architecture industry. She was also a director of Women Preach division on South Methodist Association.

We spent about 2 hours in the campus but only managed to cover half of buildings. Every corner is photography worthy, even the rest areas are great for taking photos. Saw lots of maple leaves here too!  If time allowed, you can discover other buildings like Ewha Centennial Library, Ewha Achives & Aryeong Dang (feeling regret we didn’t walk till here!), Jinseonmi-gwan, Ewha POSCO building, Helen Hall, and so forth.

NOTE: Part of the buildings information is upon reference from the university’s website HERE
